Issue

Many neighborhoods across District 1 have experienced years of uneven investment, aging infrastructure, struggling small businesses, and limited access to community resources. When communities lack strong infrastructure, economic opportunity, and youth programs, families face fewer pathways to stability and long term success.

Community development should focus on strengthening neighborhoods through responsible investment, partnerships, and smart use of county resources. By prioritizing infrastructure, economic opportunity, and youth development, District 1 can build stronger and more resilient communities.

Key Actions

Prioritize infrastructure improvements including lighting, sidewalks, sanitation services, and public facilities through the Department of Public Works.
Strengthen neighborhood business corridors by working with the Department of Economic Opportunity to expand small business support programs and technical assistance.
Identify and repurpose underutilized county owned facilities for youth centers, workforce training hubs, and community resource centers.
Expand partnerships with nonprofit organizations and faith based groups to deliver services more effectively within local neighborhoods.
Increase access to parks, recreational facilities, and green space to improve public health and strengthen community engagement.
